- Abstract
The article focuses on the shift of accountability in education from compliance and then to its outcomes. It notes that education reforms were jeopardized by the Race to the Top program-associated challenges and consequences. It contends that standardized tests may have adverse consequences for teachers and students. It suggests to be cautious on casualty assumptions, while the accountability of teachers to student learning remains critical.
