- Title
Pheromones and Same-Sex Sexual Behavior.
- Authors
Ventura-Aquino, Elisa; Paredes, Raúl G.
- Abstract
The authors comment on the target article by D. Pfau and colleagues which proposed that loss of transient receptor potential cation channel 2 (TRPC2) gene function and its consequences on the olfactory system was crucial for the development of same-sex sexual behavior (SSSB) in some primate species. Topics include basis of their hypothesis, factors that need to be considered when extrapolating results from mice to primates and then to humans, and implication of the loss of TRPC2 function.
