- Authors
KIMMELMAN, BURT
- Abstract
The article discusses the influence of intellectual paradigms provided by post-classical physics on mid-20th century American poetry. It describes essays written by the American modernist poet Charles Olson, including "Equal, That Is, to the Real Itself," which attempted to accommodate new ways of understanding realities being dictated by physics. The role of Olson's essay "Projective Verse" as an icon of avant-garde poetry from the post-World War II period is also mentioned.
