- Abstract
In this study, BiOI photocatalysts were prepared by a solvothermal method using different solvents (glacial acetic acid, ethylene glycol, and glycerol), and Bi2O3/BiOI composite photocatalysts were obtained after high-temperature treatment using ethylene glycol and glycerol as a solvent. The prepared photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and Brunauer--Emmett--Teller. The photocatalytic activities of the samples were evaluated by the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light irradiation. The results reveal that BiOI-based photocatalyst prepared using glycerol as a solvent displays the highest photocatalytic activity.
