- Title
Addressing polarization in nursing: A call to action.
- Authors
Villarruel, Antonia M.; Gennaro, Susan
- Abstract
The article focuses on increasing polarization in several societal elements, including nursing. It reports that social media and algorithms intensify polarization by reinforcing existing inequities and limiting access to various viewpoints. It emphasizes the difficulties that nurses have when dealing with differences over subjects such as COVID-19 rules, academic freedom, and scientific research. To prevent that, academic institutions should promote safety and encourage alternative ideas.
