- Abstract
We read with great interest the article by Sneineh et al. [[1]] evaluating the risk of symptomatic cholelithiasis following bariatric surgery. These outcomes are in accordance with several previous studies that reported an incidence of complicated gallstone formation after bariatric surgery requiring cholecystectomy ranging between 6.2 and 14.7% [[3]-[5]]. Elective cholecystectomy after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass: why should asymptomatic gallstones be treated differently in morbidly obese patients?.
