Du culte à l'espace muséal, quel patrimoine? Une étude de cas: la statuaire religieuse en plâtre du Québec.

- Abstract
At a time when many churches are closing and in which religious communities are faced with agonizing decisions, the fate of religious movable objects has become incertain. Designed and created for a specific purpose and place, these religious objects hold both material and immaterial dimensions, making it quite complex to define and understand when no longer in their original setting. Removing these objects from their rightful place brings up questions as to the pertinence of conserving this heritage and how to preserve and convey its meaning in a museum context. These issues are well reflected in the case of the religious plaster statuary in Quebec.
