- Abstract
This article discusses a case study of a 27-year-old pregnant woman who had a cyst on her left ovary that was detected during an ultrasound at 12 weeks of gestation. The woman gave birth to a healthy baby via Caesarean section, and during the surgery, both ovaries were found to have cystic changes. The cysts were punctured and biopsied, and the histopathological examination revealed a mucinous cystadenoma with stromal hyperplasia of granulosa cells. Six weeks later, the woman underwent surgery to remove the left adnexa and right cyst. The article concludes that most ovarian tumors in pregnancy are asymptomatic and are usually discovered incidentally during routine prenatal exams. The treatment for adnexal masses is personalized, with the goals of removing the tumor, determining its histological type, and staging it if it is malignant.
