The article focuses on how to support evidence-based argumentation through conceptual modeling. Topics discussed include the teaching strategy "Present, Critique, Reflect and Refine" in the Next Generation Science Standards that promotes deep conceptual understanding of scientific phenomena, a chart depicting yearly progression that shows how core models can be revisited to tie together crosscutting concepts and multiple disciplinary core ideas and the Claim, Evidence, Reasoning framework.
