The article examines the engagement of the monastery of Iona, Scotland in debates with other political and ecclesiastical points of view in Argyll. The domination by the monastery of Iona of the historiography of Early Christian Atlantic Scotland is discussed. Information on the regional politics of southern Argyll is also presented.
