- Abstract
The article discusses the use of percutaneous procedures for the treatment of cancer bone metastases, specifically focusing on cementoplasty and Fixation by Internal Cemented-Screw (FICS). Cementoplasty involves the injection of PMMA cement to stabilize bone fractures caused by metastases, while FICS involves the insertion of metallic screws to improve the resistance of cement augmentation. The article highlights the benefits and challenges of these procedures, as well as the increasing adoption of FICS by orthopaedic surgeons. It concludes by emphasizing the need for interventional radiologists to expand their skills in order to meet the evolving demands of complex bone procedures.
