- Abstract
The article offers a look at the prevalence of fatal poisoning from diethylene glycol (DEG)-contaminated acetaminophen among young children in Nigeria in 2008 and 2009. Acute renal failure (ARF) is the common manifestation of DEG poisoning. In Nigeria, 13 cases of ARF that were reported to the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) involved children aged three years and above. Reports proved that DEG poisoning is caused by home medication.
