- Abstract
The article discusses the author's experiences as an aircraft maintenance officer and the lessons they learned regarding product support in the defense acquisition process. The author highlights various examples, such as the importance of creating a robust plan for facility requirements, the significance of shipping paperwork in maintaining a healthy parts pipeline, the value of accessible sustaining engineers, the need for training and training support in maintaining aircraft, the challenges of design interface in stealth aircraft, the importance of information technology systems support, and the foundational role of product support management. The author emphasizes the importance of serving the Warfighter and maintaining a strong relationship with customers in the acquisition process.
