- Abstract
Food is essential for life, important to regulate the levels of melatonin and serotonin, sleep-regulating hormones. An adequate diet associated with physical activity and quality sleep patterns can promote parameters that suggest well-being. Given the above, the objective was to evaluate the relationship between nutrition, sleep quality and wellbeing. The research is based on a bibliographic review carried out in the Google Scholar, SciElo and ScienceDirect and PubMed databases. With a time frame between 2009 and 2020, the descriptors used in the searches were: healthy eating, sleep, sleep, well-being and nutrition. The results based on the reviewed articles indicate that a diet that meets the nutritional needs of foods that increase the production of sleep precursor hormones such as melatonin and serotonin, will favor a better sleep pattern and consequently better well-being due to a better quality of sleep. life associated with adequate eating habits.
