- Abstract
The article focuses on the brood-switching in eagle owl bubo bubo fledglings, which generally occurs when fledglings are capable of flight but are not yet completely independent of parents. It cites the study of post-fledgling dependence period of 74 young eagle owls originating from 46 broods. It discusses that brood-switching by eagle owl has unusual characteristics when compared with brood-switching in other raptor species. It also states that brood-switching has been characterized by younger fledglings of large broods moving to a nesting territory with younger chicks.
