- Abstract
The article discusses the unique accumulation of wax in Bayberry fruits and the biosynthesis of triacylglycerol (TAG) lipids in these fruits. Unlike other plants, Bayberry fruits accumulate a large amount of wax on their surface, which may aid in seed dispersal. The study found that the biosynthesis of TAG in Bayberry differs from other plants, involving the acylation of glycerol-3-phosphate at the sn-2 carbon. These findings have implications for the industrial use of plant lipids and can inform strategies to improve plant lipids for various applications.
