- Title
Commentary: diagnostic medical radiation exposure in inflammatory bowel disease.
- Authors
Levy, L. C.; Siegel, C. A.
- Abstract
The authors discuss the findings of the study of diagnostic medical radiation exposure in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). They argue that computed tomography (CT) scan utilisation has increased nearly 20-fold over the last 25 years and among IBD patients, as much as 870%. They suggest that ionising radiation must be considered a possible cause of malignancy, as well as potential confounder of the results regarding medications.
