Clapp, Richard
- Abstract
The article features Marvin Legator, Director of the Division of Environmental Toxicology in the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, who died of cancer. He served as an advisor to communities and an expert witness in legal cases involving worker and community exposure to chemical hazards. He co-edited the Journal in 1985 and devised a community health survey instrument, which provided research groups the opportunity to conduct their own surveys and compare their results to those from surveys done on other communities. According to the author, his wit and attitude will stand as a model for public interest scientists for many years.
