- Abstract
The article reports on the results of a 12 year study in the United States which estimated the association between treatment (with radiation therapy) compared with observation and overall survival in men with low and intermediate risk prostate cancer. A discussion of the impact the adoption of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening has had on the diagnosis of early and intermediate grade prostate cancer is discussed. The lack of medical data which could be used to help guide prostate cancer treatment decisions is discussed.
