- Abstract
The article discusses anti-Chinese sentiment in California and the American West during the late 19th century, with a particular focus on its portrayal in the magazine "The San Francisco Illustrated Wasp." An overview of the Czech dissident and "Wasp" owner and publisher Francis Korbel, including his political publications within the "Wasp," is provided. The political cartoons within the "The San Francisco Illustrated Wasp" are discussed.
