- Abstract
The article discusses a study which investigated the use of noninvasive ventilation (NIV) in pediatric patients with acute respiratory failure (ARF). Topics discussed include the assessment of several parameters including respiratory rate, heart rate and Pediatric RIsk of Mortality (PRISM) scores, the success rate of NIV in both hypoxemic and hypercapnic types of ARF, and the use of NIV as a primary ventilatory support.
