- Title
Is the Healthcare Facility Level Sufficient for Assessing the Impact of 2-Step Clostridioides difficile Testing?
- Authors
Gerding, Dale N
- Abstract
The article discusses the adequacy of healthcare facility-level data for assessing the diagnosis of hospital-onset Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) and the challenges in interpreting test results for CDI. It highlights the use of a 2-step testing procedure involving nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT) followed by enzyme immunoassay (EIA) and the need to distinguish between active CDI and C. difficile colonization in patients with NAAT-positive/toxin-negative results.
