- Abstract
The article explores a study that focuses on role of receptor genes in human monocytes in the development of osteoporosis. The study was participated by 26 Chinese and 20 Caucasian premenopausal women with different BMD while 1,000 unrelated Caucasians underwent genome-wide association analysis. The study concluded that the gene STAT1 is important in circulating monocytes in the etiology of osteoporosis and that STAT1 gene is largely related with BMD variation in 1,000 Caucasians.
