- Abstract
This article discusses a recent publication on the requirements for intensive care unit (ICU) admission in patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). The authors found that only a small number of emergency admissions in these patients require ICU admission, and patients with organ failure due to immune-mediated toxicity may have positive outcomes from ICU admission. However, the article raises some concerns about the exclusion criteria, the underestimation of immune-related toxicities, the interpretation of survival outcomes, and the generalizability of the study findings. The authors suggest interpreting the study's findings cautiously until these issues are clarified.
