- Abstract
A novel composed right/left-handed (CRLH) rectangular waveguide (RWG) is presented. It is periodically loaded with open-ended corrugations, which allow energy radiating from them. Compared with previously referred left-handed (LH) waveguides, this proposed structure is more effective for leaky-wave antennas (LWAs) design. To determine the dispersion property, an equivalent circuit is given. Based on the CRLH RWG, a LWA is achieved and analyzed by full wave simulation, which supports the backward-to-forward beam scanning by frequency above 7.45 GHz. The obtained propagation and radiation results are in good agreement with theoretical suggestions. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
