Organic Chemistry: Molecules in quarantine.

- Abstract
The article looks into the movement of intermediate compounds during a chemical reaction. Researchers believed that intermediates should be isolated to keep them from encountering other molecules as well as prevent them from continuing along the reaction pathway. The intermediates, which were catalyzed by amine compounds, were detected directly by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The researchers found that the reaction of amines with ketones was useful in the transformations.
