- Abstract
The article profiles Gregory Rabassa, a translator who converts literary works from Spanish to English. He is particularly recognized for his translations of author Gabriel García Márquez, and it is attested that he was an important factor in the increased popularity of Latin American literature during the 1960s. The author examines the interplay of culture and language that occurs during the translating process, discussing elements such as grammar and syntax. Also discussed is how culture influences communication.
