The article discusses research conducted on the extinction risk and conservation status of most national plants in the U.S. Other topics include the number of tree species that are considered vulnerable and endangered, percentage of flowers that are identified at the genus level, and concerns over the status of at-risk national species which have not been assessed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
