- Abstract
This article discusses a case of unilateral eosinophilic fasciitis, also known as Shulman syndrome, in a 78-year-old Caucasian male. The patient presented with swelling and hardening of the right arm, along with muscle pain. After a biopsy and blood tests, the diagnosis of unilateral eosinophilic fasciitis was confirmed. The patient initially received glucocorticoid therapy but showed no improvement. Methotrexate therapy and the addition of an elastic compression brace were then implemented, resulting in significant reduction of arm swelling and improved skin texture. The article emphasizes the importance of timely treatment for eosinophilic fasciitis and suggests that the use of a compressive aid can be an effective additional therapy.
