- Abstract
A design method of compact dual-band multi-beam antennas is proposed by integrating a dual-band metasurface lens with a dual-band planar antenna array in this paper. The dual-band multi-beam antenna designed through this method has a compact configuration, low cost, and is easy to integrate with other devices for communication. The dual-band multi-beam function of the antenna by this method has been verified through a double-layer dual-band metasurface lens and a five-element dual-band planar antenna array. A dual-band meta-cell with relatively independent performance at 13 GHz and 23.5 GHz is designed to form the metasurface lens. Dual-band magnetoelectric (ME) dipole antenna is used as the feed antenna element. The simulated and tested results indicate that the lens antenna generates five independent beams at both 13 GHz and 23.5 GHz. Considering practical applications, solutions to improve antenna performance and reduce losses have also been proposed.
