- Abstract
Thus, TSH secretion is exquisitely sensitive to both minor increases and decreases in free thyroxine (T4) [[1]], and TSH responds heavily to minor changes in thyroid hormone levels [[3]]. Secretion of TSH from the pituitary gland is under tight control by a feed-back system acting both via the hypothalamic TSH-releasing hormone and the peripheral thyroid hormone concentrations, and the pulsatile release of TSH is mainly governed by thyroid hormone levels [[8]].
