- Title
Small RNAs: Delivering the future.
- Authors
Blow, Nathan
- Abstract
The article focuses on the need for scientists to develop methods and techniques on how to deliver short strands of RNA to specific tissue and cell type to treat diseases. Such demand was raised after researchers reveal the ability of short sequences of synthetic RNA to interfere with messenger RNA and thereby silence the activity of specific genes. Researchers emphasize that the concept of RNA interference can be used in treating diseases from cancer to AIDS, by introducing short interfering RNA systemically into the specific tissue.
