- Abstract
The authors convey their concerns on the complex determinants of inappropriate use of antibiotics. Several challenges on the demand for antibiotics in the retail sector are discussed. Policy interventions on the demand and supply sides that address the challenges of inappropriate use of antibiotics in the health and agricultural sectors are noted. Excessive use can be addressed through control of financial incentives linked to antibiotics and offering continued professional education.
