- Abstract
A number of separation methods were applied to wash and disperse SiO2-coated Ag (Ag/SiO2) nanocomposites in order to establish the best practical protocol for producing stable dispersions. Colloidal stability and degree of aggregation for the resulting nanodispersions were assessed. The results show that high-performance liquid chromatography is an enabling technique for a well-dispersed suspension of Ag/SiO2 nanocomposite particulates. The nanoparticle dispersion technique is based on a size-exclusion chromatography principle that can be extended to other nanoparticles.
