- Abstract
This article discusses Austrian immigration to Canada, the United States and Australia after World War II. Several topics are discussed, such as how from 1945 to 1972 over 34,000 Austrians moved to Canada, how Canada, the United States and Australia encouraged foreign emigration because of their need for labor, as well as how the Canadian provinces of Ontario, British Columbia, and Québec were the most popular destinations for Austrian immigrants. Also discussed are the reasons for why some Austrians returned to Europe, why this historical phenomena is not often mentioned by historians, as well as the legal aspects of migrating from Europe to Canada during that time.
