- Abstract
The purpose of the experiment was to study the effect of grape seed proanthocyanidins on the growth performance, slaughter performance, meat quality and antioxidant performance of Hainan black goats. Forty healthy castrated male lambs of Hainan black goats were randomly divided into two groups with 20 replicates per group and one goat per replicate. The goats in the control group were fed a basic diet, while the goats in the experimental group were fed a basic diet added with 20 mg/kg BW grape seed proanthocyanidins. The pre-feeding period was 7 days, and the formal trial lasted for 90 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, the final body weight, average daily gain, meat weight, pH24 h value, cooked meat rate, muscle redness, serum T-AOC, T-SOD, GSH-Px and CAT activity of goats in the experimental group were significantly increased (P<0.05). The feed weight ratio, dripping loss, shear force and serum MDA content of the experimental group were significantly decreased (P<0.05). The content of muscle crude protein in the experimental group was significantly increased (P<0.01). The experiment indicates that the grape seed proanthocyanidins can effectively improve the growth performance, slaughtering performance and serum antioxidant performance of Hainan black goats, and can improve the meat quality.
