- Abstract
This article studies the effect of aspirin on the pulmonary extraction of PGF2α, and cardiovascular response to PGF2α. If aspirin has a non-specific effect on cell membranes, it might also be expected to inhibit the uptake of vasoaetive substances by the lung. Since prostaglandins E and F are at present being used for inducing both abortion and labor, it was decided to investigate the effects of aspirin in the pulmonary extraction of one of these. During administration of the loading dose of aspirin there was an increase in both central venous pressure and arterial pressure.
