- Abstract
The article discusses a study which investigated the blood levels of fibrinogen, homocysteine and oxidized low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (ox-LDL) in pre-pubertal obese children. Levels of fasting homocysteine, fibrinogen and antibodies to ox-LDL, among others, were investigated on 30 obese and 28 control children 6-9 years of age. The study showed that fasting fibrinogen and postload ox-LDL levels as markers of atherosclerosis are important risk factors in pre-pubertal obese children.
