- Abstract
The article focuses on a study that investigated antimicrobial resistance occurrences by Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Salmonella enterica (S. enterica) using the septicemia from swine samples submitted to the Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in Saint Paul, Minnesota from 1995 to 2004. The study found that most of the E. coli and S. enterica isolates showed resistance to spectinomycin and tetracycline group of antibiotics. Minimum or no resistance was observed from using aminoglycoside (amikacin) and quinolone (enrofloxacin) antimicrobials.
