- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the regulation of the physiological processes induced by toll-like receptors (TLRs). The receptors are responsible for identifying conserved molecular patterns on microbes and in transducing the information into pathogen-specific immune responses. The study, published in a 2009 issue of "Science," has shown that the combination of expression profiling and large-scale perturbations can activate networks of dendritic cells that can control TLRs. According to the authors, the components of the network of dendritic cells can be used in developing vaccines and anti-infective agents.
