- Abstract
The article discusses several aspects of estate planning in the U.S. in 2015 and beyond, focusing on America's income tax laws, asset protection, and efforts to reduce future estate tax liability. U.S. federal and state laws are addressed, along with the interplay among the various federal and state estate and income taxes in the country. Estate and gift tax exemptions are examined, as well as marital trusts, a surviving spouse's rights, and the nation's American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012.
