- Abstract
Introduction. Decrease of competitor's functional efficiency can be the reason or result of injuries. The aim of the work was the estimation of dependence between the functional efficiency, the incidence of traumata and the pain complaints in men training aikido. Material and methods. 32 men training aikido partook in the research. All participants of the experiment performed the Functional Movement Screen test (FMS) consisting of seven tests, rated in the 0-3-point scale. The additional investigative tool was the author's questionnaire concerning the training and past injuries. In the statistical analysis one used the U Mann-Whitney test and the Pearson's correlation accepting p<0.05 as the minimum significance level. Results. The average general result of the FMS test of the examined competitors amounted 17.75 points. The age and the training advancement were the factors most often conditioning the result of the test. Indeed higher results were observed in older competitors (p<0.05) and those who trained longer (p<0.001). One proved the essential negative correlation (r=-0.55, p<0.01) between the result of the FMS test and the number of past injuries (both the sport ones and those not related to sport) . Conclusion. The execution of the estimation of the functional efficiency with the utilization of the FMS test will make initiating of the individual training possible, what can influence the diminution of the number of occurring contusions.
