The Questionable Benefits of Pedagogical Agents: Response to Veletsianos.
- Authors
Clark, Richard E.; Choi, Sunhee
- Abstract
The article presents the response of the authors on the paper by George Veletsianos that refutes their study on the importance of instructional method in effective teaching by arguing that pedagogical agents is also important student learning. They contend that no existing studies provide evidence that pedagogical agents have learning or motivational benefits, and note that Veletsianos failed to offer citation to support his disagreement of their study. The authors also suggest that interest in pedagogical agents should be reconsidered as several research had proven that cognitive load imposed by information rich displays can easily overload students.
