- Abstract
The article presents a research study on the age of the oldest Jack Hills zircons that posited originally as 4.4 billion years starting 2014. The study used atom-probe tomography in mapping out the distribution of lead isotopes within the oldest recognized terrestrial zircon from Jack Hills having nanometre-spatial resolution. The study shows that the radiogenic lead atoms regularly form spaced clusters that gather in isolated damaged zones in the crystal only a few nanometres in diameter.
