- Title
Cryptococcal meningoencephalitis in a dog.
- Authors
Robson, K.; Smith, P. M.
- Abstract
The article reports on a case of cryptococcal meningoencephalitis in Great Britain. According to the authors, a male English springer spaniel was suffering from blindness, ataxia and depression. They report that an automated method was used which resulted in the detection of either Cryptococcus neoformans or Cryptococcus gattii. They reveal that the antifungal drug itraconazole was initially used to treat the condition, but the drug is believed to be poor when it comes to penetrating the blood barrier so it was replaced with fluconazole.
