Discusses the results of the Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Group protocol 185's evaluation on the efficacy of zidovudine and HIV hyperimmune immunoglobulin (HIVIG) for reducing perinatal HIV transmission from HIV-infected women with advanced disease. Maternal baseline CD4 cell counts; Kaplan-Meier transmission rate for HIVIG recipients.
