- Abstract
The article reports the case of a 16-year-old female patient with malignant melanoma in a large congenital melanocytic nevus (CMN) nine years after dermabrasion in childhood. The lifetime risk of malignant transformation of CMN depends on the size of the lesion. Dermabrasion is recommended by some as an effective way of treating large CMNs. Complete surgical incision down to the fascia might be a clue to virtually eliminate the cutaneous risk of malignant transformation.
