- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of Arab Spring revolts and protests beginning in 2010 on scientists in several Arab countries. Topics include the impact of political control and censorship on scientific research in Tunisia before the overthrow of dictator Ben Ali, problems in state support for scientific research in Egypt under President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and a January 2013 attack on the University of Aleppo, Syria in the context of Syria's civil war.
