- Abstract
THE treatment of human peripheral blood leucocyte cultures with phytohaemagglutinin (PHA) causes a transformation of small lymphocytes to primitive blast cells after morphological and cytochemical changes1-4. The cells undergoing the transformation acquire the ability to synthesize DNA5,6 and the morphological changes observed after 24-72 h of incubation are accompanied by an increase of RNA synthesis7,8.
