- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of the reef shark declines in remote atolls on the need for multi-faceted conservation action. It notes that the decline of reef shark in the oceans is a concern from a sustainability perspective and because such species can have important ecological roles. It further stresses that those predatory animals are dangerous to fishing as their life histories are characterized by late age at maturity, large body size, and low fertility.
